His father, Yo-zan, was a bonsai pot craftsman and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products mainly consist of small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm. Round pots are generally made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai pots are made using molds. The molded pots are thickly cast and then re-carved by Hideaki himself. He produces a wide variety of works, including those with claw feet, painted designs, and clay-colored pots, ranging from unique, nearly one-of-a-kind pieces to mass-produced items.
