His father, Yozan, was a potter of bonsai containers and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products mainly consist of small and medium-sized glazed items up to about 50 cm. Round pots are generally made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai containers are made using molds. He molds them thickly and then re-carves them himself. His works are diverse, including cat-leg designs, painted pots, and clay-colored pots, with some being close to one-of-a-kind pieces and others being mass-produced.
