His father, Yozan, was a potter and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm, with round pots typically made on a potter's wheel, and other bonsai pots made using molds. Molds are thickly cast and then re-carved by Hideaki himself. His work is diverse, including pots with cat-leg feet, painted designs, and clay-colored pots, ranging from unique, one-off pieces to mass-produced items.
