Wrinkled Land Hermit Crab (Coenobita rugosus var. Red)

Care Instructions:

• They prefer spacious, well-ventilated environments. Glass tanks or reptile enclosures can be used for keeping.
• Substrate must be used; coconut fiber, sand, and moss are recommended. Driftwood and hiding places (coconut bricks, sand, moss, etc., available on websites) should be provided.
• They are good climbers, so the enclosure needs to be covered to prevent escape.
• It is recommended to prepare a separate molting bucket with thick coconut fiber for them to burrow in.
• Insufficient humidity can cause gill dryness, so regular spraying is required.
• Hermit crabs cannot drink tap water directly, as it will be fatal. Purified water can be used.
• Both a freshwater bowl and a saltwater bowl must be provided simultaneously.
• They can be fed fruits, fish and shrimp meat, or specialized crab food daily.
• When changing shells, you can choose shells that are 1-2cm longer and have an opening 1-2cm wider than their old shell.

Hermit crab size is determined by the size of the shell opening:

For hermit crabs with a shell length of about 1-2cm, the shell opening diameter is about 0.8-1cm.

 For hermit crabs with a shell length of about 2-3cm, the shell opening diameter is about 1-1.5cm.

 For hermit crabs with a shell length of about 3-4cm, the shell opening diameter is about 1.5-2cm.

 For hermit crabs with a shell length of about 4-5cm, the shell opening diameter is about 2-3cm.

 For hermit crabs with a shell length of about 5-6cm, the shell opening diameter is about 3-4cm.
