Medium-sized soil-dwelling ants prefer a cool and humid living environment. The ant nest structure is complex and deeply embedded in the soil, and the nest chamber extends over a wide range.

As a member of the group of giant-toothed predator ants, the mountain ant has a unique trap jaw. The left and right opening and closing range of this large jaw can reach an exaggerated 180°, and they can attack very quickly. It has a strong single combat ability and can often easily smash its jaws into its prey. It is highly aggressive towards other ant species and insects.

This aggressive behavior can effectively defend against other insects that are larger than itself. The attack method of the mountain ant does not rely heavily on stings, but is more keen on using trap jaws to penetrate or stun the opponent. When necessary, it will also use its jaws to slam the ground to launch itself back a certain distance to get out of danger.

The feed of the mountain ants can be mealworms, needle crickets, etc. They are better at fighting alone, so medium and large groups can choose to feed them live food.
