Hasselt's Spiny Spider ( Gasteracantha hasselti )
The spiny belly spider is native to Asia and is found from India eastward to Indonesia.
Typical of this genus is that the males of the species are small and inconspicuous, but the females are larger and brightly colored. Its length is usually about 8 mm, not including the legs. The carapace is covered with a dense layer of white hairs. The abdomen is bright orange and roughly triangular in shape, with 12 black spots on the back, arranged in two rows, and 6 black spikes on the edges, with the two longest on the back corners.
