• Hermit crabs prefer spacious, well-ventilated environments; glass tanks or reptile enclosures can be used for keeping them.
• Substrate must be used; recommended options include coco fiber, sand, and moss. Driftwood and hiding facilities (coconut bricks, bottom sand, moss, etc., available online) should be provided.
• Hermit crabs cannot directly use tap water; it will kill them. Purified water can be used.
• Daily, you can feed them some fruits, fish and shrimp meat, or specialized crab food.
• When molting, you can purchase shells that are 1-2cm longer than their old ones.

The armed hermit crab is a large terrestrial hermit crab, covered in bristles, giving it a very formidable appearance. It is highly drought-resistant and can survive for more than ten days without access to water. This is due to its special body structure. The lower part of its body inside the snail shell has a sponge-like tissue that can store water for emergencies. It is a relatively recognizable species; its short abdomen leads it to prefer carrying smaller shells. Most individuals are covered in bristles. Their prominent forehead and brightly colored leg tips are also characteristic features.
