Utricularia bisquamata, also known as Bladderwort, is a small carnivorous plant endemic to South Africa. This plant has unique growth characteristics: it can grow year-round. When cultivating, it is crucial to use pure water (distilled water/rainwater) to keep the medium consistently moist and avoid fertilization, as it relies on preying on microorganisms for nutrients. Utricularia bisquamata is distributed across Angola, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, and South Africa in southern Africa. It grows terrestrially in moist mosses alongside streams and depressions, in sandy or peaty soil.
